The rev counter on my 2001 2.5 V6 156 has just stopped working. all lights and warning symbols are still working, but the needle stays on the stop regardless of engine speed. Any thoughts?
But before you consign it to the bin, check the connections on the back are tight and making contact. There is one small screw at the top of the bezel/surround. Remove that and gently pull that bezel out. Then three screws holding the gauge in. Don't drop these through the gaps around the gauge! Gently pull the rev counter forward and push the connections on the back. Don't have the ignition on though if you decide to pull the connectors off and replace them as you can blow fuses/gauges/etc.
Otherwise I'd recommend Autolusso for a second hand one ... while the gauge is out, take a note of the part number as there are different types and all may not work in a V6.
Many thanks. Car has a Q auto box so rev counter is rare, no second hand ones out there.
