I've done a search and found a few problems to do with parking sensors, but nothing the same as mine.
When engaging reverse it's started giving me a constant long beep (as if I'm about 2cm from hitting something) .. I've cleaned the sensors multiple times and I just don't really know where to go from here, any ideas?
One of your sensors will have failed, this happened on mine. If you put your finger on each sensor when reverse gear is engaged you should feel some vibration. The one that doesn't vibrate is the one that's failed. The sensors also emit a clicking sound too when you have your ear close to them. Hope this helps.
But I'm getting a constant beep when selecting reverse. I'll do the above and check for vibration/noise from each sensor, but wonder if you need the car running to do this? As I'll need a second person to test if that's the case.
Doesn't need to be running, just key to the MAR position.. Provides 12v power to all the accessories without the engine on, so you should be able to get it beeping without the engine running.
I had the same problem over the years. Took them out and cleaned them and having done the test found out that one sensor was playing up. Considered getting a replacement but then it sorted itself out. Bizarrely the cure which has lasted a long time is to spray twice around the sensors with WD40 and wiping excess off.
Will try raff, after listening for any clicks and such - don't want a lubed up ear! Cheers
