Morning All!!!

I'm and AO newby and need a bit of assistance.

I've got a 2001 147 2.0 Lusso. I took it for an MOT on saturday and it failed on it's indicators. The driver side indicators don't work using the indicator stalk. Passenger indicators work fine, and when the hazards are on, the driver side indicators work fine. Anyone got any suggestions what it could be?

I've checked the fuse - from what I understand there is only one - and that's fine. I've tried changing the indicator stalk (Alfa dealer wanted £250!!!! b**tar*ds - but managed to get one for £40 on ebay. This didn't fix it either. Has anyone had a similar problem? I'm going to try changing the relay tonight, although I'm pretty sure this is redundant too!! Grrrrrrr.

Does anyone know where the indicator relay is? I can't find it in the manual, or anything online.

It's driving me mad because I can't make sense of it... so any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Chris

mmm not 100% sure about this one, i know your relay will be located in the housing of where your wiper and indicator stalks sit, you will see it when you take the housing off, it will be a big blue box located at the bottom of the house. Have tried to clean the actual connectors in the housing?

Hey thanks for your reply!

I haven't tried to clean them up no. I messed around with them to check if they were all connected and if any wires were loose, but couldnt see anything obvious. Is there anything in particular they should be cleaned with? I;ve had it all to pieces and couldn't see anything untoward. It's getting frustrating!!

Cheers

Has anyone else had a similar problems? It's driving me mad. I've had a look on the forums and seen a couple of posts about the body computer. Do I have to go to Alfa to buy a new body computer or can an existing one be re-written/coded.

It's effin frustrating because this is the only problem I've ever had that I can't figure out!!!! Grrrr

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Cheers again

Morning all

Just thought I would update on the situation.

After several weeks of trying to avoid paying hundreds out for a new body computer, I have finally had a result. After speaking to several people (some helpful, some just looking to fleece) it was identified as a problem with the body computer. I spent a while trying to work out whether or not I would could just replace with a second hand re-coded body computer or if I had to buy brand new.

Anyway, after speaking to Neil at Alfa Spares in Lancashire, I took the body computer out and stuck it on a radiator - turned out there was a little condensation inside (common problem with 147's apparently). Once dried and replaced, works perfect!! The guy saved me £££'s.

I also spoke to Lewis @ Alfa Tecnico in Nottinghamshire... v helpful and I will definitely be taking my car there for servicing from now on.

So, if either of the mentioned read this... CHEERS!!

Thanks all

Chris
