Hello. My hydraulic lifters must be replaced. I saw one site in England hydraulic lifters very good price. Is anyone fit any of your car? I'm concerned the low price would not be at the expense of quality?
I bought some from ebay for my ts. £50 all in. No problems. The will wear out slightly quicker but that's because your head will be worn through millage.
This may be a silly question, but - how do you know they have to be replaced? Is it because of damage to the face of the tappet by a worn camshaft lobe? Or is it because the tappets are making a persistent ticking sound (tried an oil flush?)
Perhaps the way in which the originals have failed may affect the likelihood of the replacement failing.
I use oil Selenia Racing 10W60. However, a cold engine at ignition audible clatter. When i replaced cam variator noticed that suction lifts of the 4th cylinder is very soft. Probably broken too quickly emptied.
Do you understand me?
Other sound when the engine warms up is similar to a clock tick. I do not know whether the sound will disappear after the change of the lifts. May come from a valve or piston pin ... I do not know. We'll see...
I ordered 16 x valve lifters from Trechii LTD. Be of good quality. Original by Fiat are very expensive.
I agree with you, a piston pin can also cause a clock-tick noise (I had that noise with a FIAT 999cc engine). I think you have done the right thing replacing the lifters first, though. Sorry I have no more information! Good luck.
Mmm defo sounds like weak lifters. I found that if you give the car loads of grief and high revs in some spirited driving it fills them all and the ticking stopped. After a while though it came back (about a day). Out of interest what are the lobes on the cam like? I fitted a new cam in mine as one lobe was worn completely off. That cam is definitely quieter than the back inlet cam which is still original.
I nothing understand My English is bad... please explain writing in simple.
