Was having a bit of a poke around under the front of the 156 yesterday when I noticed a very corroded piece of metal. It looks like it is a bracket for the front spoiler to attach to but I couldn't find it when I looked on ePer. Suggestions please as to what it is or where I can find it?

Hi Iain. Thanks for your reply. They look like the jobbies. I could only see the very bottom but even the rust particles look the same. Do you know what the result would be if they actually rot through at the bottom? In other words is anything liable to drop off, or would things just start wobbling before anything disastrous happens?

I might as well have them replaced, but in the meantime I'll just have to hope nothing comes adrift. The link you sent me made mention of an Air Conditioning pipe that was attached to one of these brackets. There is a black rubber hose about half an inch in diameter that appears a little loose and was wondering if that might be the A/C pipe mentioned in the link.

Hello The Beard,

Just replaced these on my 156, and i have to admit it was a bit of an epic.
The best way to do it is to remove the front bumper, which is straight forward enough.

In my case it wasn't though, as all the bolts holding it had rusted solid and 24hrs of WD40 helped not a jot.
Thus i had to replace them with the bumper still in place..... I hope your bumper comes off for the sake of your hands, and sanity.

You may choose not to replace them of course but if you want to keep that undertray its a good idea.
The rot also spreads up them and on the drivers side they support the horn and airco coil and partly the water reservoir.

These are the parts, old and new. Its worth giving the new ones a really good paint job and once fitted treat with Tectyl ML, to prevent the rust recurring.

If you can save whats left with rust remedy, then do that first. Would save you quite a bit of grief...

Cheers

Sorry Iainfm,
Just followed your link. Shows the rust problem here much better.

I was quoted 78 Euro each for these without vat at my local dealership, but found them online for 27 Euro each including vat.

My dealership are not only expensive but useless by the way....

Had a look on shop4parts, but couldn't find them. Got mine here.
Originele auto onderdelen bestellen voor groothandelsprijzen - het grootste online assortiment
They list them as part no.s 0156671 and 0156672.

It is a Dutch site, but you could always give them a call if you have problems.
Very quick service, and shipping shouldn't be a problem.

Ps the two bolts that hold the airco pipes are not supplied and the old ones are not easily removed so 2x m6 bolts 35mm long with 4x penny washers and 4x m6 nylox nuts make an easy fix.
Good luck.
