Been looking for 2 months on and off,

....................Is it me or are they all silver lol was it the cheapest paint finish............no offence to silver alfa owners! ;)

What i would do for a red one with tan leather and sports kit:cry:, i would have thought more people would have ordered this. I guess there out there its just you are all holding on to them!

I look on Autotrader, Ebay, Pistonheads and here...................any other places to look?

Sorry to rant

I think silver was incredibly popular when it was introduced. If it was 5 years in the future and looking for a 159 you'd be asking if they were all black! I think you've covered all the bases as places to look, but in my opinion, finding a car with a good service history and low mileage (With the sport pack of course! They really do look so much lower and meatier with it) takes priority over what colour the car is. Unless its green! Bleugh. So that's why mine is silver with black leather. Yes I'd have LOVED a black / red interior or red / tan interior but when I got a one owner 58K car with a complete service history for an absolute steal, I wasn't going to be too fussed that she wasn't quite the right colour!

Yes, I ended up with silver too as it was a temptingly-cheap car to buy and I don't regret it.

It is very much the popular colour of the time. Colour is important, but maybe not THAT important. Silver is practical. But soooooo ordinary... Mine has a red interior which helps to make up for it...

Red with beige interior, like a Ferrari, would seem to be the obvious choice. Though rather than red, I think deep metallic blue would be appropriate, like a Maserati.

They do exist. I looked at four inc the one I bought. Three were red (two with tan leather) and one was grey. The grey one looked good (with red leather) but had next to no history, two were just tatty so I bought a red one with tan. If thats what you want keep looking - they are out there.

Found mine in Autotrader.

Good luck.

You dont want to sell it do you ...your near!

Im off on Holiday soon and once i get back its time to go and look at some, the wife dont want silver which narrows it down to about 3 or 4 at the moment :p

The GT needs to be sold too, wheel bearings gone now how come things start breaking when you think of selling!

My GT, bought secondhand, is metallic black with red interior. I didn't want either of those colours! But I bought this example because it was lowish mileage, one owner and FARSH. Each to his own, of course, but with any secondhand car I advise going for the best example you can find, and ignore colour unless you find two that are otherwise identical. Believe me, once you get the car, you get used to the colour and you enjoy the rest of it.

I found my 156 2.5 v6 SW with metallic black and tan leather interior AND FARSH in superb nick and snapped it up quick.
I'd been looking on Autotrader etc for months and months, so when I saw this one I knew I couldn't afford to hesitate. (I can't stand the red leather and the black leather doesn't do it for me either:eek:). To me the tan/ black combo looks classy and that's the only one I'd go for. If you want the right car, patience is the key!
Good luck!:)

I only know of three 156 V6's in my town, my car is Africa Grey, one is silver and the other is red. I always mistake the silver one of a t. spark because there are quite a few silver t. sparks about.

I think silver cars were so popular back then (about 10 years ago) because it wasn't a common colour before that period and unlike black, red or blue it is really easy to keep clean and most people are lazy ****ers.

I've never owned a silver car, but I did get loaned a silver Renault Espace :vomit:

That car seemed to get dirty very quickly indeed and showed the dirt badly too.

You're right that silver cars were popular back then. I remember reading that it was regarded as a colour indicating status and power, so all the managerial 'exec' types wanted silver cars. Once everybody had a silver car (typically a BMW 3 series) the novelty wore off, as people realised how common they were.

I love Alfa red, but the OP should be aware that the colour oxidises quite badly and pink bumpers are very common.....
