Hi again, i have a slight problem, there seems to be a slight grinding noise coming from front of car under braking, there is no change in the feel of the pedal and the car stops as normal, at first when i press pedal everything is normal, however just as the car comes to a stop i here the noise, could this mean worn pads, which where only changed this time last year? 147 standard brakes and disks
Depending on your driving style and milage, quite possibly, if they're down to metal again then it's disks and pads again, but if only 1 pad was worn out then that calliper is probably siezed.
could just be dirt or a stone caught in the pads - you will not know until you look - also is it possible one pad is binding on and causing excessive wear
In fairness to the brakes i am pritty harsh on them so more than likely its the pads, had the front disks replaced only 6 months ago, its due for a service in the next week or so, i will get them replaced then.
Have you just washed the car? Did you do the wheels?
Have you left it parked for a with with the handbrake hard on for a couple of days?
I get the same with all of the above, after its sat for a night or two, but no probs with brakes.
Any scoring should be easy to spot on the disks and if pads are new,
then youve done well to get though them in a year...!
They should be fine, but if your worried don't wait, get it checked in for a look.
Different pads might help. Mine were garage recomended and are crap.
I have had screeching first then grinding, all of the above things apply to me, dont use car much, leave hand brake on. and the snow and rain is where the noise started.
Although its also worth noting I just had my brakes changed, both discs and pads at the front and was told that the cheapest pads could be why its so noisy.
when I can afford I may get new pads.
