Okay people, strange one for you here! I've owned my 156 for a few months now, but have hardly used it. I make a habit of checking the fluids every 1000 miles or so and so today was the day I checked it for the first time! Anyway, when I did, I found that it was well over the 'max' marker! It's so far over, it's onto the spring part of the dipstick!:tut:

Now, there is the possibility that when the car was serviced by an Alfa Romeo dealer before I bought it they have put around a litre or so too much in (how?!), but it drives fine and it's over-reading my so much I don't think it really can be that full. My other theory is the wrong dipstick has been fitted, so my question to y'all is what is the correct one for a 156 2.5 V6? I've taken the following photos of it for reference. It has the Cloverleaf logo on the handle, which struck me as being odd because it's not a Cloverleaf anything! The main part is a kind of spring material, with the bottom few inches being metal rod. In total, it's 23" long from handle to tip.

Any chance of shedding some light on this? If it is the right one, I need to get some oil out ASAP!
