Hi all. I have my 2001 156 up for sale, both here, Pistonheads and on eBay but so far haven't had much luck.
Do you think the price is unrealistically high or is this about right? I'd be keeping her anyway if it weren't for the fact that when I move my insurance will literally double, so it's a bit of a gutting sale anyway and considering I paid £2795 for her the thought of going lower than I am now is even more gutting.
Fix the airbag light first. It might be the passenger seat connector which will cost next to nothing to fix or it might be something that will cost hundereds to put right. You also need to tell people when the cam belt and variator were last changed.
It is difficult to say without seeing your car and its condition as to whether it is overpriced.
The problem I see is that there are lots of 156's around going cheap, most of which need work. However the average person who knows little about Alfa's will see the price of the cheap one and think that anything over that sort of price range is too expensive without considering what has been done to the car.
I think you may be slightly over priced in the current market. If the car is worth more to you that you would get by selling you may be better off keeping it.
'Fraid I don't get much choice in the matter, the missus is fed up with having a long distance relationship so move I must!
Thanks for the advice though guys. I'll have to dig through my paperwork and see what more I can add in terms of what was done when.
I'm going from Garaged in a small village outside Cambridge with zero crime since... ever... to street parking in a low crime area in central Southampton. Basically whatever I do I'm stuffed. Joss- i'm trying to get a '99 Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S. Even on that i'll be paying £6 more a month on the insurance than I am now, and sticking with what I have now means paying £106 per month on insurance, which means I just can't afford it
Sounds a bit on the dear side to me i had a 2001 156 sportwagon with full leather and sportspack absolutely mint condition sold for £2k 4 years ago. god knows what id get for it now. scrappage scheme is best options and buy a mito.
