custom by yours truly, and its made a little difference, not much if any power wise, but certainly helps it pick up much better, and it stays freezing cold there too, no heat soak.
goes round to the redline like a rocket, sounds excellent, different to a normal kit so a few people have said. nice.
and quite cheap too, worked out at 110ish for the whole lot.
What parts did you get to make it? I was hoping some silicone hosing or the cold air feed kits that you can buy would do the job or better than the standard one anyway.
Oh yeah, I tried the unplugging of my MAF today and I couldnt get the car to start, I opened the bonnet after several tries and it started OK but as soon as I shut the bonnet with it unplugged the engine cut out?
Not sure what to make of that really? I took the 2 torx screws out and unplugged the MAF, was that the right thing to do?
unplug the sensor, where the wire goes there is a little clip. what you did was give your car an air leak and the inability to check any air what so ever.
no need to remove the whole sensor, no wonder it wouldnt run.
just remove the plug, it will run rough or not atall with it unplugged. bit of pedal dancing required, but if it powers better above 3k, then the maf is dead.
£110 was for the pipework, filter, brackets, connectors etc:thumbs:
I was hoping I did something wrong lol I couldnt get the plug to budge though without taking the torx screws out. So theres no need to take the screws out and the sensor should unplug somehow or do I need to take the screws out then unplug something?
That doesnt sound too bad mate, it looks like my air box is missing some screws as its just cable tied shut. I was thinking of just getting a green cotton or k&n filter to stick in the box as the standard one in there looks pretty dirty, then maybe some cheap tubing for the intake, I think k&n do a cheap kit that can be bought from ebay. Yours does look very nice though
I just need to work out how to do this MAF thing now
the sensor doesnt come out at all. well it does but doesnt need to in this instance. there is a plug on the very end, just that, that comes off:thumbs:
see the plug on the end, with all the wires coming off it, and the little tab you push? thats what you unplug
Yeah, I tried to get it off the other day but it wouldnt budge and I didnt want to force it incase I broke it.
The clip part looks broken on mine too, the rubber seal comes off no probs but Im not sure what to do as like I said, I dont want to break it.
