Please someone help.My 2003 Alfa 156 1.9jtd needs some new alloy wheels as my existing 205/55/16's need refurbishing due to discolouration and one wheel has serious brake dust damage. What should i do, refurbish or buy new non-alfa wheels. Whats my maximum size etc?
I have tried ''wonder wheels'' but the dust has burned into the alloy paint on the wheel, so its knackered and needs stripping. The other wheels are typical problem Alfa where the lacquer has started to wear off.
Not sure what you should do as far as replacement wheels, thats a personal thing, but i have 225 45Z R17's on mine and its about as big as you could go without any rubbing.
Since fitting these i have noticed a massive improvement in road holding and handling. Much better than the old 205's which i now keep with winter tyres on.
If you want something deeper than 45 then go for 16inch to be on the safe side.
Plenty of wheels out there and even original Alfa 2nd hand.
Good luck..
