Dead 156 v6 RIP!
Just about to pass a Passat on the A38 outside Plymouth, sudden loss of power, pulled onto the slip road & popped the bonnet - no cambelt to be seen - entirely my fault as she was due a cambelt change (I will do penance by walking to work)!
Although she looked a little rough around the edges, in the 2 1/2 years that I had her she cost me no more than service parts (actually, she had a new radiator six weeks ago, but I think it`s fair to say that they are almost a service part from what I`ve read) & sailed through two MOTs. One of the most reliable cars I`ve had (in August we did a tour of friends and drove over two thousand miles in two weeks)!
Anyway, I realised today that although I`ve rarely posted on here, I have spent almost twenty hours of my life perusing the forums & wanted to say thanks, particularly for the times when I thought there was something costly happening and realised that it was NFA (normal for Alfa).
Unfortunately, I don't think she is economical to repair & will go to some scrapyard.
Donatella will be sadly missed by the whole family.
The family will not however be Alfa free, parents-in-law have a 147 which is due to be replaced by a GT or Brera imminently.
Many thanks again for all your help & have a merry Alfa Christmas (Alfamas[?] - a seasonal holiday where the sometimes benevolent, sometimes wrathful deity must be appeased with Selenia and mince pies....!).
