1 conn rod will probably be a bit of a waste of time without further work, ideally they all need to be simular weights, and have the same C of G, but due to differenecs in manufacturing they vary, what most manufacturers do is make a load, and then group them together to get a set that are pretty close. so your one new one will probably be no where near your old ones.

your £114 + vat will as you sugest, be much better spend on a one second hand rod, and then getting an engine builder (or have a go yourself, you just need some precise scales and a bit of theory to do the basics) to balance them all, and maybe crack test them (i assume your old one failed, is it a common point of failure? might be worth checking the others)

You could try somewhere like FPS (Ferraris Piston Services). I know they used to supply engine parts in the past ...

Or possible Alternative Autos, EB Spares, AlfaShop, etc.

Or a local Motor Factor (PartCo, etc).

You might try someone like AHM to see if they know where you can get these parts from .. they are a specialist in Hants.

Piston ring set for example at my local motor factors was £93.73 so there is £50 saved straight away.
