2004 147 petrol - How to replace rear left (OS) handbrake cable?

Dear fellow Alfa owners. My rear left handbrake cable has snapped right at the rear wheel. I know I can source the part for around £16 but I was wondering how difficult it was to replace it? What are the steps and is there a guide anywhere I can follow? I've Googled it but not had much luck. Many thanks.

It will hook onto the end of the short cable from the handbrake ... but that's probably hidden behind the exhaust and exhaust heat shields. Follow the right one forwards and you'll find it.

The brake end is simply hooked through the operating level then the slack taken up.

Attached a couple of images from eper that should help. Pic 1 shows the handbrake .. I think you need to hook the new cable onto item no 2 ... that stick out the back. Pic two shows the rear cables. I don't have elearn to hand today so can't check the actual assembly instructions.

Thank you SO much for the posts so far. If any one has actually done this I'd be interested in how long it should take so I can plan it. Thanks once again - the diagram is great!!!

Fairly easy. Unclip the hbrake lever shroud , underneath the lever from the front loosen the adjusting bolt, 12 or 13mm I think. Unless your arms are too short you can reach under the car and unclip the cables from the bracket. No 10 in pic 2 from gaza 82. Clip 9 just holds the two cables together. Unhook cables from clips on body and from operating levers on brake. Fit the new cable in reverse order. Main difficulty is not having it jacked up high enough to get both hands on the cables/ brackets, and having to do it by feel. I would fit both sides unless you know the other one is new , saves you having to do it all again when it snows and the cable freezes your handbrake on.

Thanks for all the posts here the job was done today in around 30 minutes! Slackening off the nut under the handbrake was the clincher to this being quite an easy job. Thanks again.
