147 prices/problems/advice!

Hi all,

I'm looking for a 147 2001/2/3 vintage. I've seen this on on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I can have it for 2k.... I think it seems on the money for 2k, others say its cheap however there's lots that have been for sale for a while!

Does anyone know of a well looked after manual version?

What are the main things to look for/check when buying a 147? Any other tips/info!?

Well firstly consider that the bids will no doubt go up from there cos that is a very good price. I'd definantly go have a look at it in person before considering any bid. I have an 04 2.0 147 Lusso and it's been a dream so far but...

Check the wheels for welts which cause vibration when driving, the alloys have given me a nightmare.

Spare key - if it doesn't have one it's another 50 quid.

Make sure the device which makes the seats fold back is in good order, mine snapped within days and cost a huge amount to strip it down and replace.

It's a great car, really torquey (if thats a word) beware it's hard to control at times if you really go off the line, but my best advice is take a mechanic with you, cos the wishbone and other bits can be knakcered. Bare in mind as well I pay 4.9k for a 43000 miles 04 Alfa (with leather seats, supersport alloys and sat nav in built) but good luck!

A few things to note on that - cambelt should have been done at 36k

you will have to get a cambelt/variator service at 62k so factor that in. 350

Its had a cambelt service done already. So no worries there.

I can have it for 2k if I collect on Wednesday when his new car arrives, looking at completed listings it won't go for much more and he doesn't want the hassle of potential ebay time wasters!

I did want one with leather but I guess I could buy one off ebay for £200.

Cambelt is due every three years or 36k

I'd check date as to when it was done.
