Alfa 156 2.0 TS Selespeed

Hi,
Really hope someone can help.
I have the above motor and cant seem to solve the problem.
It has an erratic idle on start up which does improve when its warmed up but not completely.
Doesnt go below 1000 revs though which makes it drivable. I have checked for leaks in the inlet and tried disconnecting the MAF but to no improvment.
I also think that this is what could be causing the 'jumpyness' through the gears.

Have you checked the valve in the oil breather pipe after the throttlebody?
