Damp Carpets

I appear to have a small water leak on the driver's side of my 156. It's not sopping, just damp. Passenger side and rear is fine.

Any ideas?

It smells vaguely of damp dogs rather than DoT 4.

hmmm, can't be heater matrix. must have a blocked vent under the plastic cowling under the wiper arms, as this can cause water to come in via gromets used in the bulkhead

Check the condition of the door seals. I've sold a few used ones, so they must either wear out or get damaged somehow.

Door seal in completely knackered but has been all along and this is a recent problem. Needs doing though for sure so might be a good place to start.

Dealer recently quoted me £20 + VAT for a brand new door membrane, pre-glued. Where exactly is the damp? In the footwell or alongside the door?

Do you have a sunroof? Mine had a blocked drain-hole, the water runs down the windscreen pillar and drips onto the carpet.
