Wave Alfa 147 Remote Keys

Hi all,

Since buying my 147 I thought I was missing one of the remote central locking keys, but after reading (some of...) the manual it is apparent that for UK cars they only provided one remote central locking key (with buttons) and one normal flip key with no buttons (what I have). A bit lame, but it is what it is…

I have seen a two button key on Ebay. My car has a three button black key. My question is would the 2 button key work (if programmed) with my car (would be good to have a spare with remote capability)? I am only considering this as I know that new keys can cost £50-£60 on there own without the programming and this key is a lot less than that. I also do not want to bid on chance and deny someone who needs a key the opportunity of this!

Cheers, Clufstarr

I bought my 147 brand new, and had 2 remote keys which were exactly the same, just like yours ( 3 buttons ) with a flip open stalk, don't know why anyone would have different key fobs to be honest !!!!.........

n13roy - What age is your car? I am sure I read this in the manual.

I'm just trying to avoid a £150-£200 expense for a key when all I really want it for is on the off chance I lose the current one or my wife needs to collect the car when I have the key or vice versa...

It might just be the transponder. Someone on the forum does a key service including
replacing the transponder for £25 or £35. Hope this helps..

Fix the key,it is easy, just open it, it is glued,so you will heve to glue it again. It has a little switch inside which is probably broke,I had same problem. Glue the switch on its place with litle express glue, then fix elecrtical contacts with that electrical heating thing,I don't know how to say it in English, and little melting metal wire (again my english:-). Beleive me,it is easy and cost almost nothing.

soldering iron - I did both my keys - split case - find loose switch, gently clean the area where the loose switch goes, and with a good soldering, drop solder the unit back on. You might then want to support the switch with hot melt glue (optional). Replace and test - dead easy.
Use fine solder otherwise you will make a mess - I suggest do one, test it then do the other in case you f it up.
