Another Airbag thread

So I think I need a new Airbag ECU. Airbag light is on and wont clear with a reset.

Heres the AlfaDiag Error Display:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...aDiagFault.jpg

Have checked all connections to and from the Airbag ECU and all seem sound.
So does anybody know anything else I can do before replacing the airbag ECU?

If it will not clear with a reset then there is a fault with one of the bags the ECUs rarely die unless they have been badly abused.

I thought the error code would point to one of the airbags with a fault in it, if an airbag was faulty.

The error code is 01, failed component code: ECU, Intermittent fault present.

Which software and cable are you using ?

If it is Alfadiag it might be worth sending a PM to Rearbear

Alfa 156 2.4 JTD + Q2!!!!

It may just be the connectors to the ECU, take them off give them a clean with some electrical contact cleaner and then retry clearing the codes ...

So I got contact cleaner and went at the Airbag ECU, after disconnecting the battery and waiting 10 mins.
I cleaned the connector and its power connector plugged it all back in and went to clear with no succes.

So any ideas of what to try next?

Check the earth point ... I can't believe it's the ECU itself, when microchips go they stop working altogether ....

... alternatively contact IainFm and see if he's got a spare ECU lying around ... (you never know he might even do a sale or return if you're lucky) ...

alternatively ... remove the warning bulb

I have browsed ePER on the Autolusso site and found the following airbag control unit codes:

60675878
60665492 504
60669249 504
60663943 505
60675876 505
60675880 614

Is there anyway of finding out what units are are fitted to which model, like a list with the chasis code and the Airbag control unit model fitted?

thats hard to tell, Alfa uses these things at random, you better try to get the exact same as in your car,
all these things have special circuits for side airbags curtain airbags etc does you car only have 2 airbags ?

I need also a new Airbag ECU. Mine is 60675880.
Is it just plug-and-play when I get ECU from breaker with same part number?
