stunned

well i have to say for the first time in ages i am gobsmacked ,car went to alfa on monday with suspected coil failure, quite a common failure i believe, tuesday they rung it looked like a inlet valve had burnt out ,tday the guy rings up and says engine is a real mess valve has shorn off in the piston and imbedded in something or other and i am now getting a whole new engine
not bad going for 11000 miles and 15 months
the chap at the dealers said that it was all covered by warranty and alfa would cover the bill which could be as much as £4000
Has there been much of this sort of problem before is it a known fault,he did ask how hard i drive the car which is reasonably hard but not by any means thrashed and never from cold
i have to say though the dealership have been good ,and have kept me informed at all times

yeah sure was Desira at Norwich
matt was the guys name and he was really nice explained all about the piston and cylinder head .
they ve been really good even on minor faults, when heated seat switch went they changed the passenger one to driver side while waiting for the part ,the whole team are friendly and helpful (thats my experience anyway)
it was this that was the deciding factor on wether to buy from main dealer or import thank god i did nt import i think you only get 1 yr warranty

One of the technicians from Desira Norwich used to be a regular on this forum in the early days and was great for solving all our technical queries.Whatever happened to Numanracing?

Shad,

Sorry to hear about your engine troubles, but it is heartening to hear that you are being treated well by your dealer. Usually our new members come on after they have been mistreated by their local Alfa representatives.

And while I've said it in the chatroom, welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll soon find AO your online home.

Shad,

Point humbly taken. I was just feeling a bit familiar with madshad since we had been chatty a few days back, hence the shortening of madshad's nickname. I promise I won't do it again.

BTW, Shad meet madshad. Madshad, say hello to Shad. Shad is the bloke we were confusing you with during the chat. Trust me, we won't make that mistake again. wink

3rd year is a dealer bonus, and comes out their pocket!

I took the 2 years and bought another 2years warranty for £500, and saved £4,500 over list

Maybe the engine broke cos you DIDN'T thrash it laughing It is an AR after all!!!

Welcome
