Marangoni Vento tyres
Hi Guys,
I did my homework prior to posting but honnestly in a so popular topic such as tyres, I couldn't find a decent discussion about Marangoni tyres.
I read quite a few good things in a previous issue of AutoItalia (July or August 2003) but I wonder how to would compare to other mainstream tyres names.
My main concern is to find out if these tyres behave best in the dry or the wet, etc...
I need a new set of tyres before the winter days and was £60 all inclusives per 205/55/VR16
Any comments ?
Cheers
Chris

Having experienced a few sets of Marangoni winter tyres on some of my customers cars, there's really only one thing I can say; DONT!!!
Sorry

.... or a pasta maker that diversified into manufacturing tyres
Now, seriously, they had a pretty good review in AutoItalia. I'll try to scan and post it, if that can give more weight to this post !

The saying goes, "if you pay peanuts you get monkeys". In this case if you pay £60 for a set of four new tyres.....words fail me.
It's like buying remoulds.....if you have a £150 13 previous owners Ford Escort, then fine.....but on an Alfa.....
.....please excuse me while I scream loudly and hysterically like a teenage girl in the corner,
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhh
nnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
If you want to save money, then just don't drive wink

In case I upset anyone.....
I am sure the Marangonaroni Wanko tyres are excellent and in recent tests, probably did much better than Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Continental etc in every area; dry grip, wet grip, cornering, the squealing like pigs test, wear, noise and costing less than 50% of just one of the opposition's tyres, a set of four is this years bargain and bought by the seriously wise and thrifty.
Magroany Wanky tyres - the choice of champions wink

Honestly,
Nem says it all. Not that I haven't been let down by some of the top brand tyres, IE: Michelin. Unfortunately I have no recollection of what name Marangoni put on the tyrewalls, but they sounded godawfull. Like all four wheel bearings were shot. I even had the "pleasure" of test driving a car right after the Marangahooka's were fitted; I'm still suffering from a hearing deficit. I wont comment on how they handle, I just wanted to get out of those cars, fast!
Cheers
Hoygs

Guys,
I am sorry (...although not really laughing ) to disagree with you.
Let me clarify that £60 is PER TYRE (size 205/55/VR16) and that it might be classified as competitif but not "cheap". For your info Micheldever would quote the same for a Dunlop SP Sport 01 and only 9 quid extra for a Goodyear Eagle Ventura that came out top of is league accroding to a recent tyre test published in Autocar.
Also Marangoni tyre are used by German Tuning company Engstler.
Some of your comments may have been valid years ago but what I am looking for is for someone that has had RECENT experience with these tyres, not just a vague recollection of what Marangoni may have been in the past.
Keep your mind opened to INNNOVATION, and stop living in the past... !!!

Engstler? Never heard of them.....crap!
Sound like a cross between English and antler and anyone who calls their company after a country full of stupid people and the horns of a deer is obviously as mad as a mongoose wink

naughty Don't like anything German, their food, their language, their girls and I will not waste my time commenting on their cars certainly not a VW Vento !
Having said that, if you apply the logic that you developped for Marangoni to Alfa, you shouldn't be driving one, Mister VW Vento !
And YES, it gave me great pleasure this morning when exiting the motorway not to let that VW Boring squeeze in front of me and to watch the puppet gesticulating in his car and talking to himself

Oh... I must have misunderstood... I thought you were looking for opinions on Vento tyres, and that was what this whole thread was about....
Sorry, I have no opinion on cack tyres for cack automobiles, neither of which I am familiar with, and therefore I decide not to comment any further...

Before I decided to get the Eagle's, I also was looking at the Marangoni's.
But the problem is that I didn't find any comparing tests of these tyres, so I didn't want to risk my money on something that might be awful.
They could be great, but I'll stick with the F1's until I see some descent tests stating that they are on the same level as Michi, Goodyear and bridgestone.
I know this doesn't help you, but that my point of view...
