I've got a shiny red one....

Sorry just got to post......

Took ownership of a Alfa red selespeed 147 this evening. It's Faaaaaannntttasstttticccc! I'm on such a buzz.

Went for a testdrive around Amersham in the 147 JTD on Saturday and though it is VERY good it felt a bit underpowered. At least compared to the 130 HP offering from the Germans (I promise not to say the word). I was on my way back to London to go try a selespeed and the dealer rang me and cancelled on me - too bad their loss. So I went back and tried their selespeed. All I could say is Oh wow - this is a fantastic car, over and over again.

So I went and bought one obviously - No other choice. Looking forward to a top weekend out....

boffin.

PS can I join the tractor baiting club now?

I totally Agree with you on that one Stori!

Red is the way in a 147! (Alfa 147 + Red(Rossa) = The Real Authentic Alfa IMHO)

Me too. Alfa Rosso is the real colour. Everything else is just not quite right.

Alfa Red is "the" colour. Fangio would have agreed. But - let's be honest - have you ever seen an Alfa (let's forget the Arna) that looked anything other than great, whatever colour? (That doesn't necessarily mean that I would welcome a beige, non-metallic maroon, or non-metallic dark blue Alfa).

Congrats!

I have grown to love my Rosso Alfa 147... it's actually mesmerizing to look at the colour in bright sunlight eek!

It's also not that common here in Italy. In a country with SO many 147's driving around, mine gets a lot of looks because people are not used to seeing a 147 that is not silver... any car that is not silver for that matter!

I'm just hoping she won't fade....

I use Zymol Ital wax on my 147 (see the photos above)
This is excellent, but expensive.

COngrats with your beauty

I also own an Alfa Rosso, i used Turtle Wax (the hard one that you have to soften with H2O )to protect it, and untill now i don't have any complaints.

RJ - Zymol Ital wax is THE polish. Protects against fade, abrasion, bird sh1t etc etc. The finish is the dogs nackers. You will need a day to apply it and a small overdraft to buy it though (no kidding).

In fact, on Stori's advice (in earlier postings) I have in fact purchased a Zymol Starter Kit with Ital wax (the one you apply with your hands). Since I received it a couple of weeks ago, however, i haven't had a free day to use it. I will soon though!

By the way, this is slightly off topic for this thread, but with my Zymol kit I also ordered the 'Tyre' liquid. It works amazingly well not only on the tires (satin, rather than gloss finish), but it also cleans up all of the rubber moldings around the windows, etc. that were starting to get dirty and a little discoloured.
