It is a great hoot to drive! Too much effort on the roads though..
It also spits 5-6ft flames from the exhaust when changing down gears. You should see the pedestrians faces, especially when it starts getting dark as you come towards them. Bear in mind the exhaust exits nearside
Is a bit scary having fiber glass protecting you! eek!

It's not just fibre glass AJ!
There's a thin sheet of ali plate, and I've got a bit of carpet too (deluxe model wink ).
There - do you feel much safer now??
laughing
My exhaust is offside and blows all the rubbish out of the gutter onto the pavement , so it is eco friendly too. Oh, apart from the leaded petrol.

With the *****-evil cams this one has is it misfires badly on overrun/down gear change. But when you are accelerating hard it screams to 8700rpm. And I never got carpet, it must have been too heavy wink

Back to the Octavia RS.
My mate has one and the one you beat couldn't have been trying. 0-60 is nearly two seconds quicker than the 147 2.0 and has a 146mph top speed.
Mid range is just astounding maximum torque of 173lb ft is available at all revs between 1900rpm and 5500rpm. It accelerates just the same wether your at 1900 or 5500rpm.
Tha 2.0TS has 134lbft not much of which is available below 3500rpm.
TaviaRS on scoobynet has the Skoda 220bhp upgrade and has done 80000 trouble free miles in two years. 4500miles have been on track. We had it GPS tracked, not speedo reading, at over 160mph.
I love my Alfa but the Octavia RS is a serious performance motor for the money.

sofar no 147 (I haven't met the GTA yet) can beat my TI, and if you look at the weight/bhp figures that is logical, 147 is a pretty heavy dude compared to the 146.

I test drove a 9,000 miles 147 2.0 3 door, and it felt like the handbrake was on next to my 145QV.
@logiclee - the Skoda is a good car no doubt, but I haven't seen one yet where the driver doesn't look
a) an arrogant knob
b) a copper
c) both
Puts me off a bit.

Rick,
the 145 QV is even a bit faster on the draw (lower weight than the TI) and we are lucky to have the now extinct last really fast Alfa's on the road.
The GTA's are great cars, but the A (Alegerita) is far behind the facts, those GTA's are bloody heavy and only 250 BHP makes them fast.
So let us keep the QV's and TI's rolling !!

And I agree entirely.
They should have used the Green Cloverleaf or ti badge to represent the most sporty car in each range. The GTA badge should only be for proper allegeritas, and preferably without any fake brake ducts, 'cos those really p!$$ me off.

It's called trying to build an Italian VW Golf. So is FIAT. The Stilo in 3 dr must be the second best looker to the 147, but even with 170bhp it's bloody slow.
wink

Thing is, without a helmet, the driver can't actually breath over 80mph, so he will have blacked out by 110!!

Of course i'd wear a helmet!
And - running out of puff at 110 - no, thats when it takes off. I would have only just changed into 4th at that speed. I would still have most of the rev range left, and another gear. This is quite a long ratio box, but you are not in a gear for long.

Has it got a windscreen AJ??
Doesn't matter how long your gears are if you've got that barn door stuck up in front of you!!

my alfa it's not stock anymore, and u forget about the driver...
anyway, today I raced with one of my friends; he hav an bmw 318, with power chip+sport exhaust; we calculated that the cars are almoust the same speaking of the bhp...
so, we started our engines and... the cars were the same! I had a little delay at the start (selespeed...) but after I was getting in front of him with half of a car...

if u can't love your alfa,
you can't love anything...

Spinning.
I'm confused .
Are you saying you can beat an Octavia RS but can only pull half a car length on a 318 with probably about 15bhp more than standard?
The Octavia is 180bhp standard and 220bhp with the Skoda upgrade.
I did say it must have been the driver.
I have been in a 220 RS and the performance is Impreza fast. The 2.0TS alfa is not in the same league.
