Belts & Tensioners

This now due (3 years since head rebuild when the tensioner failed and lunched the engine)

Was rebuilt at 56k now has 73k

I do all the other servicing myself, fluids, filters, brakes, spark plugs etc so just looking for all 3 belts along with all associated pulleys and tensioners.

Looked at Autolusso but seem fairly expensive.

Any ideas???

On my old one, I couldn't believe it when he said he'd changed BOTH cambelts.

Then I looked at the bill.

Re: Belts & Tensioners

If it was a 2 litre, then it also had a balance shaft belt.

Re: Belts & Tensioners

Yeah it was. Thing was, after the guy had fixed it, it had that f**ked belt whine thing going on. Irony of it all.

Thanks, will call.

Don't "hate" going to main dealers, just don't like their high prices

Been to Wilsons to buy various service bits in the past.

Re: Belts & Tensioners

Decided to take it to Jamie at AlfaWorkshop.

They are a tankful of petrol (ish) cheaper than Autolusso but from where I am, more direct to get to.

Now, what the hell do I do in Royston for 4 hours?

Do you think I will be allowed to hang around and watch while they do it, as long as I don't get in the way?

Unfortunately, Wilsons turned quoted £585 but it was expected as they are a main dealer. Shame cos I could have walked home in 2 mins while they did the work.

Re: Belts & Tensioners

I live just over the border in Bedfordshire and visit Royston reglarly for the local CAMRA group - a number of nice pubs but not a lot else unless you can get out of Royston.

There is the Shuttleworth collection at Old Warden near Biggleswade - old airplanes and a few cars.
