Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa Video

Hi All,

I would highly recommend that you all have a visist to the Maserati website and view the Video of Schumacher (won't spit on him if he was on fire ) taking a Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa around Fiorano.

http://www.maserati.com.au/maserati/...deo/schumi.jpg

It is interesting to see his gearchanging technique with Maserati's "Selespeed" system.

Also note that the paddles are connected to the steering column, and do not turn with the steering wheel.

<a href="http://www.maserati.com.au/maserati/maserati/downloads/schumi_hi.zip" target="_blank">MPEG Video (approx 24Mb) Hi Res version - http://www.maserati.com.au/maserati/maserati/downloads/schumi_hi.zip[/url]

ps: Love the paddles....Why oh Why can't we get something like this for our 147's?????

Nice video Stef. Thanks.

This car is the car that Schumie drives when he goes for groceries...

(...I mean this is his everyday car).

LMAO...that's so funny stori...Just what I was thinking.

Imagine the scintillating conversation between Schumacher and Marcus Gronholm.

Anyways, read the information stated about the Cambiocorsa system:

http://www.maserati.com.au/maserati/...issione_01.jpg

The adoption of the electro-hydraulically activated Cambiocorsa transmission opened up an exciting, new chapter in Maserati history. Derived directly from the Ferrari-Maserati Group’s experience in Formula 1 racing, the Cambiocorsa dialogues with the engine management to take care of gear selection, and engaging and disengaging the clutch automatically each time the driver selects a gear using the steering wheel-mounted paddle shift.

As well as the undoubted ergonomic benefits of this innovative system - no clutch pedal, plus drivers keep their hands on the wheel at all times - the Cambiocorsa’s advantage over other, similar systems lies in its use of the new Maserati manual 6-speed gearbox, which means clean, almost instantaneous shifts, especially when using the ultra-rapid Sport setting.

The shift programming offers no less than four different operating modes: Normal, Sport, full automatic and low grip. Normal and Sport offer two levels of performance, complete with different logic settings for the electronic traction control (ASR) and, where fitted, the optional Skyhook adaptive damping. Normal is calibrated for greater comfort, while Sport gives maximum traction and road-holding.

Automatic, on the other hand, offers smooth and jerk-free gear changes for maximum comfort. However, even in this mode the driver is free to shift gears manually to override the automatic changes. Low grip is ideal for smooth starts and shifts when driving on slippery surfaces, such as snow and ice.

The system also offers instant availability of first gear when the car stops. The gear the car is in is indicated on the instrument panel ahead of the driver. The display also tells the driver which mode is selected, displaying "AUTO" in the case of automatic and "ICE" for low grip.
