New Wheels - Should I get them?

Mate of mine bought these wheels for his Golf GTI, but sold the Golf and bought an S3 Audi 2 weeks later.

He likes the standard S3 wheels so he wants to sell these wheels. They have only done 200km and are brand new.

http://users.bigpond.net.au/s8n-/wheel1.jpg

He paid over $3000 AUD for them and said I can have them for $1500 AUD.

Im not sure if they will fit on my Alfa tho?

18x8
5x100 PCD
35mm offset
Falk 326 225/40/18 tyres

I dont know crap about wheels, so I dont know what this 5x100 PCD is?

5 is the number of wheel nut/bolt holes.
98mm is the diameter of the circle made by the bolt holes.

8 x 18 is a big wheel for a car the size of a 147, and although it might look cool, it could drive like a bag of nails...
eek!

Jay, 5x100PCD wheels will *FIT* onto 156/147/GTV or anything with 5x98. But you really don't want to do that. It means that the wheels won't be perfectly centered on the hub, but you probably can't feel it. In the long run, bolts can come loose and you can imagine the rest. eek! eek! eek! I know someone who's done this to an Alfa, and just saw some guy did it again recently. Bad idea.

Cheers,

OZ provide a kit with special centering screws to fit 5 x100 alloys on 5x98 cars and it is homologuated.

OZ do this because they don't produce 5 x 98 alloys anymore and want of course continue to sell alloys to Italian owners !

Hi Jay,

I would strongly suggest that you go and take some good digital pics of the wheels and email them to Justin. Ask Jusign if he wouldn't mind using photoshop to paste the image of the wheels onto his pic of your car.

This way you will know how the wheels will lokk on your car.

I am a bit worried about insurance implications in case of an accident if you are fitting 5X100 wheels onto a 147 that only takes 5X98.

Think about it. Could be a nasty surprise down the road.

FWOAR JAY!!!

THEY WILL LOOK SOOOOOOO PIMP DUDE!!!!!!!

If he's a good mate, then ask him if you can fit them to one side of your car to see what they look like.

I find it SO PIMP that my 147 is the only one with mods on it here in Sydney And there's a LOT of 147's around!

Has anyone used these centering screws before? How exactly does it work?

On the subject of wheels, are those lightweight alloy wheel strong enough for daily or track use?

Advantages of lightweight wheels are obvious, but what are the disadvantages of lightweight wheels if there are any? Less stiff? More flex? Not as durable? Easy to be bend?

And what are the recommended brands and their weights? I've seen those wheel weight charts but it was outdated, not including many current wheels for Alfa like OZ, MilleMiglia, Zender, Novitec, Speedline, etc.
