Loud banging noise from engine area

I was driving to work this morning and while I was changing down gears I noticed a loud banging noise when I put my foot on the clutch. Then I stop the car and proceeded to drive away in first gear but I got the same loud noise again every time I put my foot on the accelerator and take it off the clutch.
Has anyone any suggestions on what the problem is and what I should do…I have booked the car in on the 17th of Feb for a check-up for other problems I’m having.Oh it’s a 147 1.6 with about 6k miles.

Tks

JD

Well the first thing I would do is definitely not drive it and have it towed directly to the dealer ASAP eek!

Hi there

A couple of days ago I noticed a banging sound as I was jerking the car out of a tight parking space. Pressing the accelerator while releasing the clutch makes a nasty rattle noise that seems to come from the engine area. I can only hear the noise from outside though.
Anyone heard this?

Its really weird , I've just go out to the car there now to see if the problem is still there and its gone....for the time being anyway.
I'll have it checked out by the dealer as soon as possible...and get back to you all about the problem.

Try this: engine off, 1st gear on, handbrake off.
open the bonnet and move your bella with your hands, forward-backwards, with all your strength. If you hear the noise, have the engine's bases checked.

Really really really daft question.
Was it definatley in gear?
Sometimes you can get the lever to look like it is in first, but really it's only a half. Then when you bring the clutch up you get one hell of a din from under the bonnet.

My wife likes to demonstrate this to me when she is manouvering the 145. She can get it to happen in first and reverse!!
eek!

Well I left the car in and the mechanic told me there is a problem but they don't know what it is yet ...so they are going to strip out the clutch and gear box and try and find the cause of the problem.
This is so weird cause the last 147 I had they had to strip down the gear box and replace the syncros on 3rd and 4th Gear , but when they put the gear box back together 1st gear was gone and so it then had to be replaced....Ah well...
