It is a Halogen bulb.
£5 is not unusual for the H6W

Unfortunately david c is correct. A halogen bulb costs way more than a standard incandescent one!

Do you not have to be a business or something to get one of those?

Consider it a bargain. I have a friend who has a Volkswagon Toureg. He was quoted £115 for a bulb EXCLUDING fitting!!!!

Not really, make enquiries by phone before you go, you could say you do a lot of work on cars and need a regular trade parts supplier. Think i showed them my works I.D. card as well (Jaguar Cars). Good Luck.

Re: £5 for 147 Sidelight bulb!

That trade card sounds like a good idea, thanks. I thought it was just halfords bumping the price up but it seems £5 is the norm. Also halford did not list the correct bulb but then do they ever get it right?

Re: £5 for 147 Sidelight bulb!

I hate to hijack this with a stupid question, however could someone explain the British terms for lights/lamps?
Being from the States, I kinda got the whole trunk/boot, good/bonnet thing figured, but I am confused when the British terms for lights.
From the title of the thread, I imagine the lights on the side of the car, but I suspect I am way off base.
I am used to 'dim' and 'bright', when it comes to what I would refer to as 'headlights'.
(no nasty comments please, I already know that I fit into the 'dim' catagory)
Appreciate it!
Cheers!

Hi Bill.
The terminology is confusing! "Sidelights" are the small wattage bulbs at the front of the car that you turn on before the "dipped" setting. The "bright" setting is referred to here as full beam.

The indicators on the wings are usually called side repeaters.
