147 1.6 120 bhp: how many rev's ??
For those who have a 147 T-spark 120 bhp:
how may revs do you make (when oil temperature is ok!!) in first and second gear??
I mostly never go over 3000 in first and in second 3500. Now i recently noticed the car only gives his power free for a quick start if you make at least 4000 in first and second gear...
What do you think?

Although I don't have a 1.6, I think every Alfa with a petrol engine gets in the mood above 4.000 rpm. Even the sound gets nicer.
If nobody is blocking me and I am not in a rush a normally switch gears at 5,500 rpm

BTW Do you know there is a 147 meeting in Belgium on April 26 (info on my site)

Some times I change at 6.5k the 1st, 6.5 the 2nd... I can't avoid it!

Depends on my mood. Always at 7.000
Seriously,
third is my favourite gear. I reach 6.500 often with third.
Normally i change 1 -> 2 at 2.500
2 -> 3, 3 -> 4 at 3500.
But when i m in the mood, i push too much the 2nd and the 3rd. I always try to drive slow and smooth but .. i never manage to behave
I push too much the 1st one also when racing starting from traffic lights wink Its a good trick to delay a bit to change from 1st to 2nd, it always works because the revs never get low and you have full power available wink

2nd and 3rd gears are my favorites too wink
They do all the job when driving very fast on the roads I usually drive - out of the city. Sometimes I keep the 2nd hight, say around 4k and then pedal to the metal... 3rd and pedal to the metal...
You should see the face of an A3tdi driver when I overtook him a couple of months ago...
The day before he thought he had a fast car...

2nd..i'm totally in love with 2nd!!
oh btw..seeing you guys also like changing from 2nd to 3rd at high revs..
last time i was in a "fast" mood (the time i had the 13-year-old in the back wink ) i noticed there was a strange sound when changing from 2nd to 3rd. on slow changes nothing, but when i changed at about 6,500 - 7,000rpm there was this "scraping" sound while i shifted the gear from 2nd to 3rd. it's not coming from the clutch, but from the actual shift; and seems to be coming from the middle of the car (gearbox??)
is this ...bad? eek!

If you're doing a very fast gear change, it's easy to not press the clutch hard enough during the change, are you sure you're pressing it to the floor? wink

Hi to all, I just wanted to drop a quick comment about gear change. Mine is a 1.6 120bhp (16500km), today I went for a quick ride near Madrid“s skii area, I was driving quite fast, I went up to 6500revs in 3rd, I really enjoyed but then this jellous friend of mine told me that Alfa“s sound very nice but little power comes out from such noise. He really ****ed me off. I just wanted to say this in a friendly area such as this one :-). By the way what tyres do u recommend me? I have Firehawk/Firestone, evryones says they are ****, why is that? Has anyone measured the 1.6 120bhp going from o-100km? I was told it does it in 10.9 seconds, it seems a bit faster dont u think?.
