Alfa 147 first service

Hi all,

I just had my bella serviced for the 1st time. I, for some reason, had thought that the 1st service was free? I was wrong? I had to pay $320AUD (Australian dollars) for it!

I was just wondering if you all had to pay for your first 10000km service and if so how much did you have to pay?

You can convert currency here:

After the service I noticed a major difference in my brakes. It's like I never had any brakes before! Might be new pads perhaps, not sure but damn she stops now!

I had mine serviced at 2500km.
I supplied the Castrol R 10 w60 oil and it cost A$190 .(of the A$190 about A$140 was labour.)
Also included free of charge was the partial removal of the black rubber strip under the car by some "Testa di Catzo" (probably not spelt right but you will get the guist of it. )
I assume that your A$320 included a charge for a car for the day?

NB. Officially the 147 is not required to be serviced until 20,000 km or 1 year

First mini-service: 5,000k oil change. Shell Helix 5-40W. I supplied oil and filter. $52.00 labour. No sign of usage of the super thin stuff yet.
Now if the dealer didn't have to replace the half the console because they damaged it trying to fix a loose radio (eventually I fixed the rattle myself) and the driver's door glass was aligned properly, GTV would be perfect.

In my 147 (new, under 400 Km) the oil is extremely clear. I was suprised. At first I thought it had no oil in it. I barely cound see it on the meter.
In my previous cars (both new) the oil was from the start, quite dark, and at the end almost black.

Still very clear. Actually I find it very difficult to see the oil on the 147 dipstick. The problem appears to be a design problem with the dipstick itself as I had no problems with previously owned Alfa cars.
NB I only changed oil to make sure that any contamiation was removed as soon as possible(assuming that there was any).

They told me to bring the car for service in 20000km or after one year but every 5000km for a free check up.
I had the oil changed last week, I ask for selenia 10W40, it cost me 24.40 Cyprus pounds (43 euros)
I check the oil today and I almost not able to regognise the oil on the oil meter.
the oil seems to be very clean

Stori, nope hiring the car was free, they're nice like that! But the breakdown goes:

Parts (Oil Filter/washer fluid) $34
Brake fluid/full synthetic engine oil: $90
Misc: $15
Labour: $145

I was just hoping the 1st service would be free! hehehe

As far as I am aware, in the UK the first service on new cars used to be free, but that was usually just an oil change at about 1500 miles. Seeing as that service isn't required on the 147 then there's no freebie frown
