Got a GT !!!!

After months (possibly years) of threatening, I am now the proud owner of my first Alfa - a black 04 GT JTS

Absolutely delighted with the car, but it needs a few things replaced which I picked up on during the inspection (Upper wishbone arms etc) but nothing major. Cam belt has also been recently done.

However the dreaded 'MSCF' has appeared on the dash, with no power loss or other common side effects. I have found a few small splits in the black intake hose (about 60-70mm right angle) but nothing else obvious. The fault has came and went over the last few days.

Could someone confirm if this will cause the MSCF fault??

Thanks in advance.

The Chinaman peed on my rug man.......

Re: Got a GT !!!!

Well I doubt the splits would cause the MCSF message unless there was a lot of dirt getting in and affecting your MAF.

When replacing that pipe maybe look at alternatives such as those from Autodelta.

Re: Got a GT !!!!

Congrats on your new car. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Get a lead and Alfadiag - about £50 all in. I found it useful when I had my 156 1.6TS.

Big Lebowski - what a classic film.

Re: Got a GT !!!!

How weird. I went from a Honda type S to a GT like you have. I went for the JTD version and to be honest I have had nothing but trouble with it. I miss that Honda (drunk postman smashed into me and wrote it off). I don't miss the fuel bills though..... enjoy your Alfa. They are beautiful, you will boot it to catch up with other GT's just so you can look at them. You will agonise over the Brera and Spider and (if like me) get sick of sitting in the Alfa dealership waiting for the next bill to be explained.

Still got the Accord, couldn't bring myself to get rid of hit - bulletproof and powerful family bus. Fuel economy is gash, but only do about 7-8k per year so not a big issue. Believe it or not it's not as thirsty as the 2.0 JTS which according to the computer is averaging 22.7 mpg while I get about 28 mpg from the Accord.
