The rubber lip under the bumper all 147 I’ve seen have it.
In my case is useful to know when the bumper is too close to the floor, almost every day I hit with that rubber lip but until now it didn’t came off, is still there.

BTW I don’t know if someone noticed but JTD have a plastic protection all over the engine, I’ve talk to the Alfa Dealer and he said that is only useful for protecting JTD engines from dust!

I want to install an engine protection under my engine but they said that it can’t be plastic made and it has to be made by measure.
Is very expensive too because it mustn’t be very heavy!

Hi

I have been reading posts in this forum for a long time but have not taken any part in the discussion before. But actually I don't think the reason the cover is not installed in cars in Greece is heat, because I live in Iceland and I have no cover and I have never seen a 147 with a cover, but the 156 in Iceland have a cover.

Sincerely,
Kjartan Juliusson
the FIRST 147 owner in Iceland.

Maybe it's the heat from the volcanoes in your case.
I wouldn't want to think that it's a matter of cost. It's terrible to buy a 20.000 E car, without a plastic cover, that would cost 100 E max.

i too dont have the under engine cover, not even my friend who also has a 147
i think its only standard on JTDs, just like fiats (in malta at least!)

you could always order it if you want it; its part number 46552597 and it should cost approx 55.14 euros.

the rubber lip on the other hand is part no. 46746031 and costs about 14 euros

But after all are you all talking about the plastic protection underneath the engine or not?
If it is, I already justified why the JTD have and 1,6/2,0 does not have!

Or maybe I do not understand what plastic cover you are talking about!!! eek!

Like I’ve said before my dealer said that came as default in the JTD.
Is also possible to install in a 1.6 and 2.0 but has no use to me cause is made of plastic!
I want one solid protection not one that could break!
About dust, I think its only JTD problem, but in my point of view not very important.

dont get under your car to check for this f....g cover and those lips when there is rain outside. but you made me curius to check it .
well...
My 147 has not cover plate under the engine too.
As for that lip, is this lip the part which has many holes (as shown in the figure send by boNd) between the numbers 2-3?
there is a black thing like a lip under the bumper but i think that is not visible if you see the car from the front.

I think we cleared, finally, that only JTDs have a standard engine cover.
The lip is clearly visible from the front, if you bend a little. It's stapled under the bumber. If you don't see it, either you lost it (I guess you would have heard the noise), either your dealer decided to save you from the trouble and removed it.

Just took a pic of the protection shield under my 147 Selespeed

http://home.planet.nl/~rietv485/alfa...protection.jpg

For those with a lot of rain or dirty roads: you don't have to get on your knies to see if you have the shield. Opening the hood will do the trick as well: if you can look directly on the street you don't have a protectionshield (duh)

Hi

bond, I don't think it is this simple, first of all the picture of the engine cover from the workshop CD comes from the 1.6 l. section. Second of all Selespeed's selespeed obviously has it as we can see on his picture.

Yes I realised it, after I posted. Strange.
So we know, that JTDs and Selespeeds have it.
Maybe only the 1.6 doesn't have it.
Does anyone with 147 1.6 have an under engine cover?
