Alfa Romeo 147 stuck in reverse NEED HELP

Hello everybody,

Having a bit of a nightmare this week with my alfa selespeed. Parked it up whilst i popped to the shop. On returning i found that that the car was stuck in reverse and would not start. AA were on route but could not find any faults. It was then taken to the local Alfa garage only to be told that they could not find any faults. However they did say they would strip the gearbox down for £800 to see if that was the problem lol lol. Thought that was nice of them lol.

If anyone out there has got any ideas, please feel free to express them as i am at my wits end here,

Is it a 2005 or earlier car? If so, it's a known problem, I had it on my old GT. Direct them to the appropriate Service Bulletin issued by Alfa Romeo. There's a procedure to "unstick" the gearbox, and they have to flash the Selespeed ECU with v4.40 or later software.
