Thumbs Up suspect clutch

Hello have a problem with my 147 sele and i hope i can find sum guidence and help


the engine starts fine gears select and engage fine also
but when in gear and i try to pull off theres nothoing.
i may aswell be in neutral
all i get is high revs
but then after a few secs (7 or so) there is a slight pull


im not sure what it is but have been told it sounds like the cluth and that will cost me £450 (just 1 quote)


i have tried it in rev 1st and 2nd all the same
can any1 out there advise help or atleast tell me that quote is way off

Sounds to me like the clutch is not disengaging, you may not need a new clutch and I would recommend getting the selespeed recalibrated, first though check the oil level, it tells you how in the owners manual (don't want life to be too easy for you), if the level is fine and there are no signs of leaks, then check and see if your brake lights are on all the time, if the system thinks your pressing the brakes then it wont engage.

will check the oil level and the brake lights

by oil level you mean the dipstick engine oil level??


although i know the brakes arent actually on as the car still rolls when i lift the handbrke

No, I mean the selespeed oil level, the little bottle on the left hand side of the engine bay with the dipstick attached to the lid.

No, I mean the selespeed oil level, the little bottle on the left hand side of the engine bay with the dipstick attached to the lid.

jus checked the oil level and it was low

dunno if the lil tube was blocked but after i replaced it the engine started

so gonna go top it up asap and hopefully it will be the end of my lil clutch problem

wow i cant thank you enough you really are the man in my eyes

Like you said, it may not be solved, but the Seles are touchy with that oil level, the stuff you need is Castrol ATF TQ III or Dexron III. Then if the problem persists, we can look at other causes.

cheers for that i will pick sum up 2morow
these are available from the average petrol station or is it a specialist job??

will get it checked out atleast i can drive it to a garage rather than get it towed that in its self is a saving
