Morning smoke!

Anyone know why my JTD puffs out a plume of grey smoke when I first start it up in the morning? It's usually when I first touch the accelerator to reverse out my drive... Not sure if it's normal? Cheers people

Maybe because the engine will not be it's most efficient until it has reached it's full operating temperature.

Well you could probably call it white, but I guess seeing as I'm noticing it from the rear view mirror, maybe you'd describe it as black? I don't know, def not blue anyway if that helps!

Re: Morning smoke!

Condensation build up from cooling down, being warmed up and blown out as steam in the morning. Plus it's an oil burner.

Cheers for the suggestions. I guess I just wanted to put my mind at rest If there's one thing I dislike about oil burners it's the smoke issue when you put your foot down.

If it's white smoke - maybe it's chosen a new Pope

Re: Morning smoke!

well when my Vectra went it had no smoke at all idling, was a very hard rough spot when accelerating (once past it went fine as normal) - temp gauge shot to 100c so thought best pull over, flipped bonnet, looked like water bottle had had an orgasm, refilled, started, and watched as my Vectra 2.0 GLS did it's impression of an extremely powerful smoke machine at a rave oO

lol... me and cars...
