Re: Help!!!!

Just put the key in the ignitian and turn it. The alarm will then be silenced.

No it wont. The alarm has to be disabled via the key fob unlock button. The car will run because the immobiliser will disarm but you will be going along with the siren blaring and your indicators flashing! get the key repaired.

Re: Help!!!!

Well, can't speak for 147's but ... with my '98 156 the alarm would be deactivated by putting the key in the ignition ... but with my '52 (interior facelift) 156 the alarm is NOT deactivated by putting the key it ...

Trust me I am right. I had a very embarrassing drive home yesterday! I think the alarm has it's own battery. Do a search on alarm disabling you never know what you will find. If you get to the stage where the key fob works and disables the alarm, just don't reset it on. As Smaky says, just use the key in the lock.

Re: Help!!!!

In your first post you said it "keeps failing" so if you get the thing to unlock using the fob, remotely, that will disable the alarm. If you then just use the key in the locks to secure the car, the alarm will not be enabled and you can a new key remote sorted. (assuming you have 2 keys)
