idle speed of engine

Hi everyone brought my first alfa yesterday, an all i can say is wow, i have one question thou, when my car is idleing, and at optimum temperature, the revs sit about 1100 rpm, every other car iv owned is about 850 rpm, is this the start of a problem or is it normal?

It's not normal but is easy to sort out.

Disconnect the battery - cable for 15 minutes,

Reconnect - cable,

Turn key to MAR for 90 seconds,

Turn key to OFF for 90 seconds,

Start car (absoloutly no throttle allowed),

Allow car to Idle for 5 minutes,

Drive car sensibly for 5 minutes and the push it a little harder for another 5.

That will relearn the adaptive perameters of the ECU and also return the idle to 800 RPM +-50.

The timings are imperetive as if you don't follow them to the letter then the ECUs fueling will be out.

Yep, it's writen on the side of the ignition barrel. Just turn it till the ignition lights come on.
