Help 156 safety advice

I used to own a 1999 156 and I dearly loved it, but in the back of my mind was the thought of the lack of the safety NCAP testing. I am now considering buying a 2004/2005 156 2.4 JTD Sportwagon and the same thought has recurred. Does anyone know whether safety improvements were made, including NCAP testing to the later facelifted models? Or am I being stupid!!!!

Re: 156 safety advice

I took a serious hit in my facelift 156 saloon. Car got totalled but other than a bruised hip from the pre-tensioner, a sore knee from the centre console, a hurt back (pre-existing condition) and a sore neck I was ok. Search in general or images for the pics

There was a change to the floorpan for the 2002 facelift.
No idea if it changed any ratings though.

I was looking under a GT in the garage the other week.... there is a huge steel beam bolted to the underside under the left side about 1/3 way in. Running from the front subframe all the way until just before the fuel tank.

Never seen that on any 156.
