19's on a GT

I was looking at my GT the other day and thought 18's are nice but I want bigger and want some 19's. Can anyone recommend a good set of 19inch alloys that would look good on my GT? I would preferably like Alfa Romeo alloys so obviously my selection is limited but I am open to other suggestions.

Kind Regards
Matthew

Re: 19's on a GT

Yes I noticed that before, looks nice. Just wondering if there is any Alfa Romeo made 19's and what are my choices or is aftermarket my best bet?

Re: 19's on a GT

BBS "CK" alloys look quite Alfa-like. I was looking at them just now and think the styling is a little like a "stretched" version of the teledials.

The Ti rims will not fit older cars (the offset apparently). Ghostydog has 19"s on his 147GTA

If you ever get shot of your 18"s, give us a shout

Re: 19's on a GT

as above, there are no 'alfa' 19s that will fit. it would require major changes to fit 159 wheels, and probably custom work, to change the hubs and brake discs. i wouldn't even go there unless you have contacts in the industry to make them for you.

as linked above, i love the BBS CH wheels as on Bacon's GTA. another GT in my area (in australia) has these fitted, and they certainly look great. though like all BBS wheels, they do not come in the required exact 5x98mm PCD bolt pattern, and only 5x100mm at best. so you will need to use 'wobbly bolts' to fit them. no big deal to most people, though others (incl myself) are not quite comfortable using bolts that have 'slop' in them on a car with high torque like the V6 and JTD. seek advice from your wheel supplier.

GT . 3.2L V6 . Q2 . Kyalami Black - Red . Eibach . KONI . ATP 19" . TOYO Proxes4 . Mille Miglia exhaust
155 . 2.0L 8V TS . Grigio Grey - Grey . Eibach . Bilstein . Enkei 17" . Bridgestone RE001 . REMUS

What are your wheels? I would love a set of them on my GT!

Re: 19's on a GT

Toora who make a lot of the alloys for Alfa Romeo list a 19" suitable for the GT, the Toora T250.

they are made by ATP Tecnoforming, in Italy. they are drilled to the exact spec of 5x98mm PCD and 58.1mm centre bore, with correct offset of +35mm, and 8.5" wide. these fit without any probs - no rub, no spacers, nothing.

i think Novitec have used the same wheels (in 20" size) on their featured 159/brera models.

not sure where to buy from, for you. i live in australia, and there is an importer in this country for that brand, so it was quite easy for me. you would need to find the importer for the UK; perhaps contact the manufacturer.

they were good value, at around AUS$1000 a wheel. they are quite lightweight for this size (sub 11kg each) and very strong (central bracing rib runs along circumference of rim). the finish is really high; the wheel retailer commented these are some of the nicest quality he's seen of any wheel he has sold. price is excellent compared with original alfa 18s - they are considerably cheaper per wheel!

then you have to add tyres, for which i recommend 225/35. be mindful of the Load Index. alfa recommend at least '91' for the GT; this is easy to achieve with a higher profile tyre (ie: can cope with more load), and more difficult with a lower profile tyre. as such, my Toyo Proxes4 tyres have a LI of '88', which i considered acceptable. other tyres of similar quality include Pirelli PZero Nero, and my next set of tyres i plan on Goodyear F1 Asymmetric. Bridgestone RE050 are also available, but only in 'run flat' design from what i can tell, and i found the OE 225/45/17 versions to be 'hard' (stiff sidewalls), so i wouldn't buy them again cos of the lack of comfort.

be sure to upgrade the suspension too, especially dampers. this will minimise wheel damage (wheels less likely to 'drop' heavily into potholes), and will cope better with any increase in unsprung weight.
