Do you want standard ones? If so get them delivered from Alternative Autos, or EB spares..

if you want performance discs, you can get them from Red Dot. (40% off for club members)

Re: Alfa Romeo 147 Vented Brake Discs & Pads

My friend is looking to do extreme tuning on his 147.

He wants to know if it is possible to change the original engine of an alfa 147 to a v8/v10/v12 engine.

Is this possible?

Haha! ok,

Well anything is possible. But it won't be an alfa engine that's for sure!

PS - It will also make the nose stupidly heavy.

Ok Thanks Operation. How would he go about doing this? where would he need to go. He has a lot of spare time on his hands now so he feels like doing drastic measures.!!!

Thanks.

Suspension would be his first step as the current kit won't cope.

He also needs to consider how heavy the engine he is going to put in will be.

To be honest.. I think he's mad.

You'd be better fitting a V6 3.0 or 3.2 from alfa...

No point putting a V8 through a front wheel drive car.. that's just silly.

If he's going to put in an uprated engine, he'll need more than standard brakes.

He could start by rebuilding your wrecked engine...

To answer your original question though, what OperationAlfa said. Both those places give good service.

Re: Alfa Romeo 147 Vented Brake Discs & Pads

my friend bought solid discs for the 147. I went to the mechanic, and he told me these are the wrong discs for the 147. even tho my friend asked the shop beforehand if these are for an alfa 147, and they said yes.

Isnt it not possible to add solid brake discs onto the front of the wheels? Or does it have to be vented?

Thanks.

Re: Alfa Romeo 147 Vented Brake Discs & Pads

Vented disks are thicker than solid ones so the calipers are different. You need the same ones that are on your, sorry, your friends car at the moment (unless you want to swap callipers as well)

Re: Alfa Romeo 147 Vented Brake Discs & Pads

Pads are different between two types as well ... tell you friend to take them back and get the correct vented type. This is a common problem as some low power models came with solid, and on the 1.8 ... either depending on build-date. Think some early 1.9 JTDs came with solids. 2.0TS, JTS, V6, 2.4JTD all came with vented. GTAs have different larger vented discs.

Just because the discs are for an Alfa 147, doesn't mean they'll fit your 147. It's like asking a shop assistant if the shoes you are buying are for boys. It doesn't mean they are your size....

Putting solid discs on instead of vented is possible, you'll have to change the caliper and pads, not sure about the master cylinder, but it's a downgrade and harder than just getting the right discs.
