Right Boys and Girls - gona and done it...JTD

After a long time looking...I've gone and bought a SW156 JTD 2.4
140bhp engine - silver - Veloce. ( Homer Simpson voice ) "mmmm...Torque-e-licious".

I also still own my SW TS 156 Turiso Until I sell it!!

So, a few questions:

1) New car - back wiper doesn't work -- what should I look for....does it have it's own fuse. The back water spray still works...

2) My old SW has a multiCD changer in the back( in one of those little compartments in the boot ) ....how can I swap it over? Is there wiring in place as standard?

3) The rear exhaust back box on the new car is a bit old - will it be a straight swap to change it for the newer one on my old car?

4) Finally - the new car only came with one key -- is there a way to get another one without giving an Alfa dealer a million pounds??

thanks all for help given previously, and for all new help

1, Wiper motor change.

2, I doubt it, but you can take it all out of the old car.

3, Again I think not.

4, Swap over the door locks, ignition and code box, then reprogram the ECU's, job done, you have 2 keys with the new car. Or get a new key off the dealer.

You can buy a spare key off eBay, get your original key blade copied and put it in the spare key, then take it to Alfa for programming, just say it doesn't seem to work and you think it needs reprogramming in.

Only very recent 2.4 JTDm's have been produced with that much power from new (in the new Brera, 159 or Spider). A 140 could be remapped to produce 200bhp though.

Not sure this is true Pud. I think to reprogram a key, you need to know the code already on the key. I had a new key ordered from the dealer and when it came to my house, it came with a code card.

i think the car is programmed to except the key not the other way round if you have a faulty key you can get an ebay key and change the blade ane transponder chip and this will make it run but it would need programming for remote operation

Ah I see what you mean now..

But I have read a lot of threads where someone with 1 key has ended up with two by cloning it using this method..

A dealer can because when they order a new key, it comes with a code. If the ebay key has a code, or you know the numberplate or chassis number of the car it came from, you will be able to do it.
