2003 Sportwagon query

In my ongoing search for a new ( to me ) Sportwagon - I've come across a few 2003 models that do not have facelifted interior ( ie they had the old style surround in the stereo area NOT the newer silver trim ).

Is this right, or is something dodgy going on?

cheers

Re: 2003 Sportwagon query

Might be some old imports or some old style cars which were registered late. The silver dashboard facelift was mid-2002.

Re: 2003 Sportwagon query

could just be late registered models?
I was looking for a mazda 323 ages ago and wanted an end of line model - the curvy shape, was around R/S plates.
I found 2 T plates and even a W plate which might have been 2 years late?

so not dodgy at all - I hope!

Watch out for the jump in road tax rates for post 2001 cars (assuming you're in the uk).

Re: 2003 Sportwagon query

Any car registered pre 2001 will be charged road tax at a fixed rate.
Anything newer is subject to the new tax bands....

Isn't March to September a 'Y' plate? I bought a Nov 2000 'X' plate to avoid the tax.
The wife drives an April 2001 'Y' plate BMW which we reckon will be hit by the tax-muppets should leave existing vehicles alone

Re: 2003 Sportwagon query

March 2001 is the start of the Y plate. I had a brand new Ford Mondeo (co. car) mid August 2001 and that was Y registered (Y94 VGV) then my ex had a brand new Merc A class (motability car) early Sept 2001 that was 51 reg.

Am I the only one that thinks the start of the new registrations would be a logical / sensible / easy to understand date for the tax changes?

Oh yeah - civil servants don't do logical / sensible!

Re: 2003 Sportwagon query

Are they changing the tax system retrospectively over there? We have a new CO2 tax on cars in Ireland, but it only applies to new cars & imports.

Older cars remain on the existing system based on engine size... Its not very fair to penalise those who haven't bought new cars.
