BMC CDA fited to 2.5 V6

Did this a while back - just thought I would share

My bargain BMC CDA arrived today

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ize/BMCCDA.jpg

Car up on axle stand

Intake removed & battery tray out - 13mm & 10mm sockets & 10mm spanner

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190002.jpg

'snorkel' prised off the airbox & bolt removed with 8mm socket from underside

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190004.jpg

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190010.jpg

Bracket removed from rear of airbox with 10mm socket to ease removal

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190003.jpg

I undid electrical connectors to give more room

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190005.jpg

Airbox half way out

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190006.jpg

Result - it's out! - bit of jiggery pokery involved getting it through coolant pipes etc

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190007.jpg

Old & new

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190008.jpg

Bolts in existing airbox sheared (of course! [:P] ) while removing MAF housing (10mm socket)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190009.jpg

I 'kinked' the fixing strap through 90º to enable fixing of CDA

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190011.jpg

I fixed the strap using the same bolts that fix the fan to the rad (8mm socket)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190012.jpg

CDA then fixed to this using 10mm sockets

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190015.jpg

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/P5190013.jpg

Battery tray & intake re-fitted

Have beer while doing write-up []

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/beertime.jpg

Not fitted duct to bottom of CDA yet [:$] , but will do so before driving in the p*ssing rain []

Re: BMC CDA fited to 2.5 V6

Induction noise is great! Performance wise slightly better, but assume it will imrove when ducting is fitted
At the mo I suspect my set-up is creating suction within the CDA

Sounds interesting, how much did the kit cost?

Re: BMC CDA fited to 2.5 V6

Ok not sure I'd wanna go through the prosses of fitting that, as my technical abbiliaty is bad(really really bad).
Where could i pick one of these up and also have it fitted at the same time??

Re: BMC CDA fited to 2.5 V6

I would have thought any decent 'tune-up' place could supply / fit one, but there's not that much to it really if you can turn a spanner

Thread ressurection time

Where did you buy the red silicone pipe (I assume it's a reducer?)? I have a BMC CDA and an Autodelte carbon pipe (on it way) and may need a few of these.

The pipe came with the kit, but I never used it....

Hoses are widely available though - http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_t...All-Categories

No worries - if you know what size hose you need I'll measure the one I have & stick it in the post if it's any use

Thanks

I'm hoping to attach the CDA to the autodelta pipe and move the maf up near the throttle body so I'll need to pull everything apart and mesure it all up.
