Keeping 147 running

I just got my 147 back from the garage, after a major repair...new engine top, 2 new pistons, valves etc.(valve head broke off, dont know how ) The guys did a good job eventhough they ripped me off and broke my front bumper. they did not replace my timing belt, as it was still in good condition. How do i know when to replace it now? What should i look for when checking the belt?

Should never re-use a timing belt on an Alfa. I'd get it changed ASAP.

You should never re-use a belt, ever, on any car.

Belts are changed every 36,000 miles (60, 000km) or three years whichever comes sooner. Always change the tensioner at this point. If the engine sounds like a diesel at startup, then change the variator too. Some people also change the water pump, but I have never done this and have had no problems as a result of this policy.

They really should have change the belt and pulleys.

If they have changed 2 pistons, then they have also changed the big end bearings, right? The reason I say that is because the bearings on these engines are notoriously soft, and can be flattened after valve to piston contact. Failure do to so can is oil pressure loss and instantaneous major engine damge 5 miles or 5 months later.

I'm sorry to point that out, and hope it won't be an issue, but the more people who know the better.
