HELP!!!!!! Urgent I have lost remote fob and do not have spare keys! Any info Pls!!!! I have been onto Mangolettsi and the cheeky so & so quoted me £129.14 plus VAT for remote and £70.86 plus VAT for labour to de-code, then had the cheek to tell me it will only take the technician twenty minutes, they want the car taken to them? how i ask? when explained no keys! Not to worry sir we can collect it for you was there response, about £250.00 plus VAT Sorry to wine on Pls Pls can any one help?

The dealer is your only option i'm afraid and what they have told you is entirely correct as well!

TBH that may be your best bet, one chap on here ended up forking out about £700 recently for a similar problem.Have a read here.

Plus it'll probably take them more than a few days to get the new key from Italy.

TBH the costs quoted for the key and recoding seem pretty reasonable to me (bearing in mind that this whole key technology business nowadays ON ALL MODERNS has become massively over complex anyway)

The pricey bit is recovery. Can you find someone locally who can do it cheaper? 250 quid seems a lot. When I had a car stuck at home last year which needed to get to a dealer I used a local recovery service and I think I paid about a ton.

TBH stands for To be honest. Can you get your breakdown people to tow it there?

my uncle claimed this on his insurance for a SAAB.
the dealer charged over £1500 all in, claimed a new ECU was required as well and the tow and new keys/programming etc.

I was speaking to the Alfa dealers in Romford a few days ago. I'm sure he said £125 for new key (has to come from Italy) and £15 to decode.

Maybe worth giving them a call.

oh i forgot to say I had to buy 2 keys as my only key was playing up a lot.
cost me £125 each? +£40 for the recoding, which is 2 seconds work on the diagnostic, they wiped my airbag light and set my climate display to C too - for free.
I should have done as my uncle did but needed the car.
They used the same line of 'key comes from Italy' but it was delivered to them the day after I placed the order...?

Main spares depot is in Warrington, and if they had one there, they can get it delivered to a dealer overnight. Then Italy is the next source ...

I have been waiting 6 weeks for a new key. Still waiting.........
