Side light Warning

Starting to annoy me now

I get that annoying "beep" everytime I turn the ignition on and it comes up for a rear sidelight. But both are working fine and so are the number plate lights. How can this be?

Re: Side light Warning

I think I'd start by looking for a poor earth in the vicinity of the rear lights

Re: Side light Warning

Had exactly the same problem on the wife's 147. I took both the rear light units out and cleaned all the contact points including those on the bulbs. I then checked and adjusted the tension on the contact points. The bulb holders on the 147 maintain the true spirit of Alfa Romeo as to poor electrical quality! Also do the same with the number plate lights. I would use a proprietary electrical contact cleaner and maybe a little contact grease (both from Maplins) to act as a anti-corrosion barrier(not WD40). I found there was quite a bit of dulling of the contact points which would cause poor conductivity. There have been no problems since. Hope this helps.

Re: Side light Warning

Don't know about the 147 but the 156 doesn't tell you whether it's a front or rear sidelight that's gone, brake light bulb is easy to tell as it only comes on when your foot is on the pedal.
