Lowered 147 on original shocks

So is it ok to lower on the original shocks, I want most of the comfort to remain so was thinking of a 25-35mm drop as I cannot put up with the a*se of the car hanging up like that for much longer.

Any advice from people that have had this done, or even better PICTURES??

If you want a decent ride after lowering you need to replace the shocks for something else. They aren't the best with normal length springs anyway, but lowered it will be like riding over cobbles 24:7..

Not what you want to hear, I know..

I was expecting it to be honest mate but thanks for being honest.

Is there anyone out there that has done this on original shocks. So if you upgrade the shocks do you still retain the comfort. Its weird for me as since I was 19 I have never owned a car thats not been lowered, but I'm getting used to the comfort but the stilts just have to go

Re: Lowered 147 on original shocks

With better shocks you might find you might find it rides even better while lowered. Eibach Pro Kit and Koni FSDs are a good combo but you'd be lucky to get that lot for less than £600, then there's fitting. Bilsteins have a good reputation as well, I think you'd want B6's for a 30mm drop, if you want to go lower I'm not sure..

Re: Lowered 147 on original shocks

I have mine lowered on Eibach springs (approx 30-35mm drop) since about 3 weeks ago, and i love it!
It doesn't stop gripping around the corners, and it looks the business too

I'll eventually change for coilovers, but in the meantime, I'm more than happy with my springs

Here's pics of before & after lowering
Before:

After:

Honestly though, the pics don't do the difference justice!

Re: Lowered 147 on original shocks

When I bought my car it had Eibach springs but had standard alfa dampers and was soooooo dangerous. I couldn't keep it straight on bumps because it bounced all over the place. I've now replaced the dampers with Koni FSD's and it has made such a difference. It's now a joy to drive.

Re: Lowered 147 on original shocks

My car came with lowering springs and standard shocks; although it looked sweet, the ride was atrocious over rough roads. It would wallow and crash and I felt like my teeth were going to get knocked out of my head. I've since switched to coilovers - the ride is firmer, so potholes are definitely to be avoided, but it's much better damped. If you're used to lowered rides, there shouldn't be a problem.

Reminds me, I should make some beauty pix of the bella
