Cloverleaf GT, Trying to get a deal!
Hi,
I'm in the process of negotiating the purchase of an Alfa GT Cloverleaf from my not-so-local dealer, apparently there are none in the UK of my precise spec, but allegedly there are a few on the way into the country due in 6-8 weeks…Now out of principle I never pay the list price for anything, especially a 20K-odd motor! But I’m not getting very far trying to get some discount out of my dealer and I wonder if I’m onto a loser here. They’ve offered me 2k for my current motor in part/ex but this is well below what I could get for it selling privately (they are selling for 3.5-4k depending on condition). Now, my question.. Am I expecting too much in trying to get a discount on a limited edition and should I take the money and run or stick it out and wait for a better deal? I don’t have to sell my existing car just yet to pay for the new one so if I have to I can fleebay it and sell it my leisure, but there is obviously a massive inconvenience factor associated with that!
Anyone else recently tried to buy an Alfa GT? Any advice appreciated and then I’ll finally be in the Alfa Owners Club!
Thanks!
Kendal

Re: Cloverleaf GT, Trying to get a deal!
I bought a used one at the weekend from Mangoletsi. They gave me a good deal on my 147 amd knockd a few quid off the GT as well. Worth trying them? Unless that's who you have already tried of course

Hi,
Thanks for that, no it wasn't them, perhaps I should have tried them first! I'm going to stick to my guns then!
Anyone else with any advice to impart??
Thanks!

Sell your current car privately and go in holding the folding. Chances are your dealer doesn't treally want to take in a part-ex as they will have to auction it and this will cost them money.

Re: Cloverleaf GT, Trying to get a deal!
Hi Kendal,
Don't be surprised they won't offer much off a Cloverleaf as they are only just starting to release them to the dealers, and going by the previous LE GT Blackline, they know they sell well and for the spec you get on the Cloverleaf, its already a fair bit off the cost of a similar spec'd Lusso model.
That said, it's not impossible to get a little bit off list if you persevere and can shop around.
Cheers,
Cody

BTW, the 170BHP Q2 is a little cracker.

Anyone paying list price for a car in the present economic climate needs medical help.
The term 'buyers market' is the understatement of the decade.
If they won't play ball just walk away to the next dealer who will.

I agree never pay full price, especially for an Alfa.

Re: Cloverleaf GT, Trying to get a deal!
Hi,
Well the deal is done, I got £250 of the list as well as the matts, bluetooth and the glazing; I think I probably could have gotten more but they did let me drive a new JTS Cloverleaf with 2miles on the clock!
I'm sure I could have haggled harder but I'm happy with the deal!
Anyone want to buy a Rover 75 in excellent condition?

Thanks but I want a Cloverleaf q2 in black, and it suits me to wait a "few" weeks for it! I've paid my deposit now anyway!

Not wishing to spoil your purchase but I managed to find £860 off the 1.8.
Still with a Q2 do you really care?

The 1.8 will probably be a lot more discounted than the rest of the range though..

Re: Cloverleaf GT, Trying to get a deal!
Glad you done the deal,
I think they may all come supplied with mats now (and not as deep pile as the usual accessory ones ), but I'm interested in "bluetooth & glazing". Not sure what that is on the GT?

I'm not completely sure about the mats but the jts I drove didn't have them.. The glazing is the "a-glaze" car protection stuff from http://www.aglaze.com/; I realise some may be sceptical but I had it bundled into the price of my last motor and it made the paint job look fabulous even after 4 years.. The bluetooth is the (I hope) the bluespot MP3/Bluetooth option for the headunit but the dealer was going to have look it up.. All of these things I realise cost them next to nothing but they added "value" to me!

Well done, I was at one stage resigned to paying retail, I suspect that I could've haggled a bit harder and got an extra few hundred off, but I'm happy!
