2.0 Twin Spark Head bolt torque

Evening All

on the Alfa 156 CD I have it says the head bolts should be tightened to

2.0 + 2.0 + 90° + 90° + 90°

Does this mean tighten in 5 stages i.e.

1 - 2NM
2 - 2NM
3 - 90°
4- 90°
5-90°

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

Paul

Yes 5 stages but
20 Nm then 40 Nm + 3 x 90 deg.

Re: 2.0 Twin Spark Head bolt torque

Thanks for the reply, very helpful. Just realised the units were daNM not NM (1 daNM - 10NM).

Just wondering why the alfa CD says tighten to 20NM. Apologies - I don't mean to question your expertise but where did you find out you need to tighten the head bolts to 40NM.

Just wondering why there is a difference in the manual and wanting to make sure I tighten correctly..

Thanks

Taken from hard copy manuals (genuine). This quotes 20Nm or 2kgm and then 40Nm or 4.1kgm.

At the top of page 41 in this document ("Cylinder head tightening") which are the torque values for the 16v TS engine. The paper manual states the TOTAL torque values whereby the CD states the INCREMENTAL torque values (20Nm plus another 20Nm = 40Nm total). I'm sure the CD mentions this but you also need to tighten the bolts in a specific order (see the paper manual if in doubt). I'm sure you were already probably aware of this though.
