Not Happy clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

was parking, put foot onto clutch to park car, and it fell to the floor, it has no tension it is just floppy and sits on the floor.

if moved with your hand it will sit in normal position however once you press it the same thing happens.

is this a new clutch job??

btw... its not the selespeed, manual, ignore my avatar.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

Sounds like it could be a new clutch. Can you change gear at all?

Or it may be a snapped cable.

Sounds like cable, if it happened suddenly.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

no action on clutch so cant change gear - it just happened all of a sudden, no warning, not slipping, nothing.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

It's a hydraulic clutch - check for leaks & try bleeding it.

Maybe the seals have flipped in the master cylinder.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

Sounds like it could be expensive.

Whilst the clutch is being done get a Q2 diff in
It's what I've been recommended if/when mine need doing.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

This happend to mine a few months ago. Most likely it is the safety clip that has gone - very common problem and very easy (and cheap ) to fix.

Get your head right into the drivers footwell and have a look at the top of the pedal. Attached thread explains everything:
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...ken-pedal.html (Clutch - pedal creaks & "broken" pedal)

After you've fixed it check your cruise control is working though because it may have squashed the switch when it went.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

Local dealer should have them in stock. If you can I'd get a couple and keep a spare in the car.

Idea Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

If the R clip has snapped, the flexible hose will now be detached from the top of the slave cylinder connection. You should be able to see this without removing the battery tray, but a torch and a mirror may be useful.

If the slave cylinder (concentric) has suddenly let go, all the fluid will be in the bellhousing where you won't see it. The gearbox will need to be removed for repairs.

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...

same thing happened to my 147 a while back. do you know where your bleed valve is for the clutch lines? there is a wire clip keeping the valve closed. this may have just popped up, if so dead easy, just bleed clutch and away you go. if not could well be the clutch actuator which is in the gearbox and costs a bollock to fix. this is what was wrong with mine and it still hurts to think about how much it cost me

This clip went on my GT last nite. Did a temp fix with a keyring loop to get me home (MacGyver has nothing on me)

What exactly is this hose? where should it be connected?

Re: clutch pedal dropped to the floor...
